"Carousel" Show in Need of Kids Performers
Auditions announced for Theatre's 2024-2025 musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Carousel". Seeking kids and teens. Please see the breakdown below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: This production of the classic musical will tell the raw and honest cautionary romance of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan with sensitivity and care in a way unlike any production you have seen before, in a powerful and moving theatrical experience. Rate: Paid roles for actors. Additional info: For your audition, prepare a monologue and a song selection, either from the show, or from a different show of similar style, each no more than one minute long. Provide sheet music or have recorded accompaniment on hand. A dance combination will be taught in groups; wear dance attire or clothing you can move in including shoes (character/stage shoes, flat heel shoes such as ballet or jazz shoes). Each audition appointment will last up to an hour long. If callbacks are needed, they will take place on August 13. Show dates are scheduled for October 18-27, 2024. Louise is Julie and Billy’s 15 year old daughter. She has had a rough life. Her father’s negative legacy has left her the outcast of the town. She is mocked by her peers, and looked down on by society. She is deeply insecure and lonely, but she is not hopeless.
Non-singing/Non-speaking A young and carefree boy living in an unstable home with a volatile father. Young Billy runs away from home at a young age to escape his father’s violent outbursts, and learns to pickpocket on the streets to support himself.
