Casting young performers in grades K-5 for the "Aladdin Kids" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on the iconic animated film with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, Disney’s Aladdin KIDS promises to take audiences on a soaring flying carpet ride filled with romance and adventure! The story follows the street urchin Aladdin as he vies for the attention of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. Using a genie's magical powers, Aladdin transforms into a prince to win her heart. Join Iago, Jafar, the Genie, and more in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS, a musical adventure brimming with magic, mayhem, and the power of love. Unique to this adaptation are the Djinn, a group of stage magicians who bring the magical moments to life. Additional info: Directors ask that they stay for the full duration so that you can play theatre games and get to know one another as part of the audition process. Children who wish to audition for a named role should prepare a 30-45 second solo from a Disney Song which demonstrates vocal ability, expression, and character. Be prepared to read from the script or act through vocal prompts. Children who wish to be part of the ensemble and sing with others in the show do not need to sing a solo in the audition. Rehearsals will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00-4:00 P.m. beginning Sunday, August 17. There will be a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon rehearsal leading into performances which are at The Crescent Room October 25-27. Note: There is a production fee applied which covers scripts, ten weekends (60 hours) of instruction/ rehearsal, and a cast shirt. If interested, please apply.
