"The Addams Family" Child Audition for the Theater

Child auditions are open for the theater production of "The Addams Family". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: A musical comedy! Wednesday Addams, known for her love of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet man from a seemingly respectable and ordinary family. As Wednesday falls in love, family members begin to find out, forcing Gomez, her father, to keep a secret from his love, Morticia. Meanwhile, Pugsley and Grandma scheme and Uncle Fester relates by finding a love of his own. Everything will change on the dreadful night the Addams host a dinner for Wednesday’s boyfriend and his ‘normal’ family. What could go wrong? Additional info: Please note: there is a production fee applied. Rehearsals Start: August 5th Rehearsals: Monday- Wednesdays (Some Thursdays) 4PM-6PM. Rehearsals will be broken up by characters . We will maintain small groups throughout rehearsals. A calendar will be posted and reminders will be given out weekly via text. Rehearsals start August 5th at 4 PM. Rehearsals: Monday- Wednesdays (Some Thursdays) 4 PM-6 PM. Performances: Two Weekends. September 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, October 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th. Main Cast *may* be split into A & B. Participants will come to all three days of auditions. Everyone will be accepted. The Audition Days will be a fun “get to know you day” were we work with your child’s comfort level. A line read and singing audition will be held for those interested in a main character. Audition song: "Pulled" or "What If?" (Note: More experienced actors are welcome to pick a song of their choosing from the show.) Actors will start with a meeting and warm ups, review audition song, then read from the script. (Participants have the choice to audition solo or in a group) Due to space restrictions, parents who choose to stay must wait on the side, in the lobby or in the balcony for their children. Tenor/ Baritone Vocals. Vaudeville-style Comedian, That one awkward family member who serves as the musical’s narrator. Uncle Fester’s larger than life, an energetic, joyous, child-like presence. Uncle Fester is incorrigible and, except for the good nature of the family and the ignorance of the police, would ordinarily be under lock and key.

GOMEZ ADDAMSMale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Tenor/ Baritone vocals. A suave, yet comical man who takes great pride in his family and revels in all it means to be an Addams. He struggles keeping his daughter’s secret from his wife, whom he adores more than death. Husband to Morticia.

MORTICIA ADDAMSFemale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Alto/mezzo vocals. Strong Matriarch. Strong willed woman– the strength of the family. An easy comedic actress with a dry wit. Feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the secret out. She is the real head of the family and fears her daughter and her aren’t as close as they used to be.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMSFemale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Pop Soprano/Mezzo vocals. Adventurous daughter. Wednesday is a girl who has the same dry wit and sensibility of her mother. Finds love with a “normal” boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers. She experiences the lovesick drama that comes with first love and when two very different families meet. She longs for the approval of her parents but isn't afraid to show her rebellious side.

PUGSLEY ADDAMSMale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Alto vocals. Troublesome Younger Brother. A funny and sometimes annoying young boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands.

GRANDMAFemale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Character vocals. Comedic actress. She’s one feisty old woman. Fun and quirky, but don’t mess with her. Grandma often schemes with Pugsley and offers advice when needed. She’s more of an oddball than a typical, comforting grandmother figure.

Groans vocals. The Addams butler who knows all, but says less. He speaks in moans and groans.

All vocal ranges. Ancestors of the Addams family now live on ‘the other side’, but are summoned once a year to come celebrate with the family. They help tell the story, offer advice and interact with the characters throughout the play

Tenor Vocals. Fell in love with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family. Lucas is a ‘normal guy’ who's a little dorky. Wednesday absolutely intrigues him.

High baritone/ Tenor vocals. Stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his wife, Alice. At one time was a follower of a grungy, dark band, but has lost that side of himself and has become a stereotypical businessman. Always looking out for his family’s future and how they might look to his colleagues and the rest of the world.

ALICE BEINEKEFemale7-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Soprano vocals. Charming housewife and comedic actress. The mother of Lucas, is devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires. Alice is a quirky female who often speaks in rhymes and falls prey to the latest fads or quick fixes to her family or personal life. While at the Addams family dinner party, she drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak the truth rather than always appearing as “perfect”
