About the project: Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit, tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck. Meanwhile, his girlfriend and nightclub performer, Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for fourteen years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler, Sky Masterson, for the dough, and Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown, as a result. Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong. Additional info: Callbacks: July 27 from between 10am - 3pm. Called back actors may not be required to attend full callback session. Details will follow your initial audition. Rehearsals: July 29 - September 5. Monday - Thursday from 6:30pm - 9pm and Saturday from (time TBD by creative team). Not all actors will be called to every rehearsal or for the entire duration of a rehearsal. Tech: Load In: September 7, 10am - 10pm. Actors will be required to help with load in for 2 hours, not the whole day. Q2Q: September 8, 1pm - 9:30pm Tech: September 9 - 12, 6pm - 10:30pm Performances: September 13 @ 7pm, September 14 @ 2pm, September 14 @ 7pm, September 15 @ 2pm, September 20 @ 7pm, September 21 @ 2pm, September 21 @ 7pm, September 22 @ 2pm. Baritone E5 to B3. Charismatic, cool and charming. Sky is a suave, intelligent and confident gangster who naturally commands others’ respect and attention.
Soprano G5 to B3. Conventional, respectable and principled, Sarah is initially a little too buttoned-up for her own good.
Baritone F5 to D4. Organizer of the floating crap game. Funny, frustrated but romantic his heart is torn between the camaraderie of his gambling circle and the woman he loves. Required on stage kissing with Adelaide.
Mezzo/Alto E5 to A3. Lead performer at the ‘Hot Box’ a somewhat tacky cabaret joint. She spends the whole show with the symptoms of a cold, acting through sneezes and congestion.
B5 to D4. The nicest and cheeriest of the gambling crooks.
G5 to D4. Nathan's right-hand man and a gambler himself.
F5 to D4. The bass drum and cymbal player in the Mission band, he is Sarah's loving grandfather. Wise and sweet, he wants nothing but the best for her.
G5 to F3. A crook and gambler. He is a tough guy with dollar signs as his bottom line.
A New York police officer who is on to Nathan's illegal craps games and is dead-set on catching him. A tough, no-nonsense character.
G5 to F3. A big time craps player from Chicago who uses a gun and his own pair of rigged dice to bully his way into never losing.
