The Cat In The Hat is the essence of mischief, fun, and imagination. He stirs things up, and causes trouble, but always sets things right again. Looking for a male or female to play The Cat, one who will be able to play many comic cameos and is comfortable improvising with an audience.

Horton The Elephant is a big-hearted guy who is steadfast, responsible and always tries to do the right thing for his friends. He is imaginative and receptive to the world around him. He is very unselfconscious. Horton's view of the world never changes - he believes in its goodness.

Jojo is a smart child with a wild imagination. JoJo’s "Thinks" get him into constant trouble. By the end of the show, he learns what it means to be a responsible member of his community.

Gertrude McFuzz is very self-conscious about her one-feathered tail and gains confidence throughout the show, changing from an anxious, nervous, shy bird into someone whose self-worth doesn't rest on her appearance.

Mayzie La Bird is a self-centered, vain, and manipulative bird. She ultimately means no harm, but she's immature and makes selfish decisions. G

Sour Kangaroo is loud, brassy, and a lot of fun. She's got a lot of attitude and is very confident and unafraid to tell it like it is.

Young Kangaroo is Sour Kangaroo's pint-sized feisty daughter. She is following in her mother's footsteps.

Bird Girls are a fabulous group of birds who know everything there is to know about the goings on in the jungle and support Mayzie throughout the show.

Mr. Mayor/Mrs. Mayors are parents trying hard to raise a child with a big imagination.

Wickersham Brothers tease, play pranks, and get a kick out of making mischief, although often at another's expense.

Vlad Vladikoff is the black-bottomed eagle who flies off with the Whos.

Judge Yertle the Turtle The authoritative judge who presides over Horton's trial at the end of the show.

The Grinch Arguably the most famous Seuss character of all! He has a brief, fun cameo in Seussical JR.

If Cat in the Hat is the essence of mischief, these 2 characters are the physical embodiment of that mischief. These two characters will be telling the story with their bodies and strong acro skills are preferred.

The Whos The Whos are a lot like you and me, only so small as to be invisible. Don't think of them as weird little aliens. They should be played for their inherent humanity. Everyone playing a Who will be encouraged to try and create his or her own unique character.
