Kid Actors Needed for "Once Upon a Mattress"
Looking for kids ages 7-18 years old for the "Once Upon a Mattress" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince, and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For, after all, a princess is a delicate thing. Additional info: To Prepare: Please prepare 16 bars (about 30 seconds) of a song that you love to sing. You will sing acapella (without accompaniment) during the audition. The song can be anything, from ‘Happy Birthday’ to musical theatre to your favorite pop song! Please look at the sections from Once Upon a Mattress and prepare to read either of the characters, whichever one you like best, or the monologue (see the attachment). There will also be printed copies at the church. You might be asked to learn a simple dance, or show off a dance move or two! Please tell the directors in the audition if you have any special skills. This year directors are specifically curious about any tumbling or gymnastics skills (rolls, cartwheels, etc). Directors might ask you to show off your skills if it is safe to do so in the Church! Most importantly, have fun! Rehearsals begin July 15 @ Drummond Auditorium. Performances August 2–4 @ Drummond Auditorium. If interested, please apply.
