Child Singing Audition for "Matilda the Musical"

Auditioning strong singers/actors/dancers (ages 8 to 13; must be under 5 feet tall) for Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical. Please see the details below. About the project: Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the award-winning Matilda the Musical is the captivating masterpiece reveling in the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination. Matilda is a courageous little girl with astonishing wit, a vivid imagination, and psychokinetic powers. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, the unique and unforgettable Matilda the Musical is a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl on an extraordinary journey! Additional info: Bring a headshot or current photo. Resume optional. The audition will be composed of three separate parts: Singing, dancing, and reading. All materials—including audition sides, sheet music, vocal tracks, and dance videos—can be found below. Directors provide these so that Young Actors may spend time with the material prior to the audition. Teams do not expect the material to be memorized. Please emphasize work on clear speech in the reading and singing. It is important that the Young Actors arrive at the audition on time, with a parent or guardian to fill out paperwork. To be considered, Young Actors must stay for the entire audition process. Young Actors should attend only one of the two audition dates. Young Actors will review the songs and spend time working on them with musical director Jeffrey Hoffman. Then each Young Actor will sing solo. Young Actors auditioning for Matilda will sing “Naughty.” All Young Actors will sing “Miracle.” Young Actors will then be taught the dance combination “Revolting Children.” See the document attached for details.
