Casting Teen Performers for "Dracula" Play
Girls ages 17 and up are invited to audition for "Dracula" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Please prepare a period-appropriate monologue that best showcases the character you want, reading a passage from the script is also acceptable. Those auditioning will be asked to cold-read passages as well. A simple and innocent young woman, but fanciful and dreamy with her ideals, on the brink of womanhood so has an energy to her the audience can feel. She is engaged to Jonathan Harker, and is best friends with Lucy, although their relationship is more reminiscent of sisters. Mina is enticed and taken by Dracula later in the script, so undergoes a strong character arc as a performer. She is a powerful heroine in the play, and while seemingly plain at first, has an effortless beauty about her.
Mina’s best friend throughout the play, acts almost like a sister to her. An attractive, sensual young woman, she plays off of Lucy effortlessly. When watching scenes with these two, it’s almost as if you’re watching two friends have a sleepover, and their effervescent joy and carefreeness are evident in all their body language and movements. She’s in love with Dr. John Seward, and is the first one taken by Dracula, later becoming a vampire.
