About the project: "9 to 5 The Musical", with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s. this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she? This high-energy show is ideal for a large, mostly female cast, but also has opportunities for talented male dancers. With its jubilant score and easily relatable characters, 9 to 5 is the perfect show for community theaters. Additional info: Auditions will consist of readings from the script. No monologues required. Please prepare 16 bars from a song of your choice, not from 9 to 5. In addition, please be prepared to dance. Please bring a list of all conflicts to the auditions. Proposed Rehearsal Schedule: Every Tuesday & Thursday from 7 pm to 10 pm Every Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm Every Sunday from 5 pm to 8 pm Friday Rehearsals from 7 pm to 10 pm as needed Tech Day: Saturday, September 14 from 10:00 am and up to 10:00 pm if needed in Celebration Hall Sunday, September 15 will be a longer tech/dress rehearsal starting at 1:00 pm also.
