About the project: It’s Christmas Eve and Santa has just returned from a long night of traveling the world delivering presents. He sits in his favorite chair, puts his feet up, and is about to watch the big game that he had recorded, but wouldn't you know it, the darn thing did not work! So he decides to read the story of BUDDY THE ELF instead. We watch as the story of BUDDY comes to life. BUDDY, who was found in an orphanage, was raised by Santa’s Elves. After not being able to build toys as quickly as the others, he becomes sad and frustrated. Santa then tells him he is not really an Elf but a human. Santa then sends Buddy on an adventure to find his real father, Walter Hobbs, who is alive and living in a magical far-off land called New York City! Buddy finds his way to New York and along the way makes friends, has adventures, and finally meets his father. The problem is that he is still dressed as an Elf and he has a hard time getting people to take him seriously. He eventually meets his stepmother, his stepbrother, and a wonder girl named Jovie. Through this magical adventure, Buddy is able to find family, and joy, and bring the spirit of Christmas to everyone he encounters. Born a human but raised at the North Pole by Santa, Mrs. Clause, and their elves. He is a child at heart, who always gets into trouble.
Buddy’s girlfriend. She works at Macy’s and is a bit cynical about love and life. She somehow comes around because of Buddy’s kindness and joy.
Buddy’s father. He is a workaholic. He is a publisher of children's books but has no childlike spirit at all. He is selfish and unhappy with his life.
Walter’s wife. She thinks Buddy is crazy at first but is able to come around. She wants Walter to be more of a family man.
Buddy’s stepbrother who is excited to have a brother. He loves Christmas and wants his father to spend more time with him.
Walter’s secretary. Likes Buddy right away. Aims to please, she is a bit of a suck-up, and feels under appreciated.
A manager at Macy’s. Good, friendly person trying to do a good job.
Walter’s boss. He is Walter’s destiny if he does not change his ways. A tyrannical workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him.
Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas. An everyman. A natural storyteller.
A warm and friendly motherly figure. She actually runs the household.
One of Walter’s right-hand men. Desperate to keep his job, a bit simpleminded.

Santa’s helpers. They are very good at building toys. They are also always happy.
