About the project: Adapted from the hit 2004 film, Mean Girls tells the story of Cady Heron, who starts high school at 16, after being homeschooled in Africa for the first 15 years of her life. Janis and Damian welcome the audience to their “Cautionary Tale” and befriend the new girl, and when The Plastics set their sights on Cady, Janis convinces naive Cady to be their new “friend” in order to bring down Queen Bee Regina George’s reign. Along the way, Cady loses herself, her friends, and her crush, all for the chance to be popular and loved. When dethroned, Regina gets revenge by releasing the Burn Book, Cady is brought down and must mend her broken relationships with Janis, Aaron, and even Regina. With dynamic songs for young performers, Mean Girls is an anthem to friendship, loyalty, girl power, and being true to yourself. Additional info: MUSIC TO PREPARE: Choose one of the songs attached at the times requested. The time limit is to help directors stay committed to the time schedule. Directors have chosen what they feel are more challenging songs to hear at auditions. If you are invited to callbacks, you may be asked to sing another song. Everyone should prepare for the ensemble audition section. MONOLOGUES TO READ: The monologues do not have to be memorized. Choose 2-3 character monologues to read at your audition. You may be asked to read for more. Rehearsals will vary week by week but will take place in the general time section of 5:00-8:00 PM Monday through Friday with Saturday rehearsals when needed. A Parent Meeting will be scheduled for after the auditions. There will also likely be a readthrough scheduled as well. An “Art Freak” and social outcast, she is not afraid to be weird or make others uncomfortable. She paints herself as an objective observer, but, like so many of us, she longs to avenge the devastating events of eighth grade. Vocal Range Ab3-F5
Outgoing and an active member of the student activities committee, he is a fiercely loyal friend to Janis and they have the close rapport of a comedy team. Vocal Range F2-A4
One of The Plastics. Desperate to please Regina and to maintain her position in The Plastics, Gretchen is a nervous wreck. She is a “banker” meaning she befriends people to “bank” their secrets so she can trade them later on for her own benefit. Her fragility at times is heartbreaking. Vocal Range G3-D5

A cute boy with a good moral compass and a backbone. He’s not immune to all the female attention he gets, but he’s not going to let himself be a pawn in their chess game either. Broadway and pop tenor. Vocal Range B2-Bb4

The principal of North Shore High, he may have once taught computers at Joliet penitentiary, but nothing prepared him for the harsh realities or out-of-control junior girls.
Kevin is the extremely driven captain of the North Shore Mathletes. He is a confident student and a decent rapper.
