Children Theatre Casting Call for "Matilda JR."
Searching for kids ages 8-17 years old to perform in the "Matilda JR." Musical. Please see the details below. About the project: Rebellion is nigh in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson. Additional info: Your child doesn't need to prepare anything! If they would like, they bring a short song to sing. Otherwise, directors will teach them at the audition. You will also read from the script in pairs or triplets. There may be a short fun movement audition. The process will be positive and fun. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out an audition form. REHEARSALS: Every Monday through Thursday, May 28 through July 11, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Seidule Theatre, Brazosport College. PERFORMANCES: July 12, 13, and 14th. If interested, please apply.

The quintessential terrifying tyrant. As headmistress, she runs her school like a dictator, making up arbitrary rules to suit her every whim and dreaming up creative punishments. Traditionally played by a male, but open to all genders. Should be over the top and ready to make huge choices.
Matilda’s father. He is egotistical, rude, and a liar.
Matilda’s mother. Like her husband, she dislikes Matilda and does not understand why her daughter loves to read.
