Open auditions for ages 8-18 (and not yet graduated high school) for "Shrek" The Musical JR. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: SHOW DESCRIPTION: Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way. Upbeat, warm, and funny. Additional info: Show dates & times: July 19, *20, 25, 26, *27, 2024 @ 7pm. July *20, 21, *27, 28, 2024 @ 2pm. *Both Saturdays have two performances: 2pm & 7pm. Mandatory rehearsal dates: July 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, possible 18. Mandatory read-through: April 22 @ 6:30pm. AUDITION PREPARATION 1. Complete and submit this registration form. 2. A big, green, terrifying ogre who lives alone on a swamp. He embarks on a journey to rid his land of fairytale creatures and, along the way, falls in love with Fiona. Begins as a grumpy hermit, but reveals his layers and eventually becomes the hero.
The beautiful princess of Far Far Away, she transforms into an ogre every night when the sun sets. Rescued by Shrek and eventually falls in love with him. Quirky, blunt, and multitalented, she is not an ordinary princess.
Young Fiona and Teen Fiona are younger versions of Fiona and should have solid singing voices.

The comically short, ruthless ruler of Duloc. He is in search of a princes to marry so that he can become king. Has an intensely unfair bias against fairytale creatures that stems from a resentment of his father. Self-absorbed, lonely, and cruel.
A talking donkey who joins Shrek on the run from Farquaad’s guards. Quite the chatterbox, he is not deterred by Shrek’s looks and practically forces himself into his good graces. Easily frightened and pushy, but also an optimistic with heart.
A dragon that has been charged with guarding Princess Fiona in her isolated castle. She eventually falls in love with Donkey and attempts to keep him there forever. Imposing and flirtatious, but tired of her job as the glorified baby-sitter.
Performers with natural stage presence and big, clear voices. These characters set up the world and keep the story moving the story forward.
No lines, but an important part of the story.
The leader of the fairytale creatures. They are an animated puppet whose nose grows every time he lies. Plenty of sass with a penchant for lying.
Pig 1, Pig 2 And Pig 3. A fun, dynamic trio; the classic three little pigs with a German twist.
They may be bitter about his unfortunate appearance, but he does find camaraderie among his fellow fairy tale outcasts. Fun comedic role.
A great character role based on Wicked Witches in fairytales. They have a big personality, so find a performer who is up to the task.
They doesn’t need to be a scary, threatening big-bad-wolf type. At this point, he’s a pretty tame wolf who is reduced to wearing Little Red Ridinghood’s grandmother’s dressing gown. This is a fun role for a newcomer to the stage.
A gingerbread man initially kidnapped by Lord Farquaad. His wit and resolution help him both avoid trouble and inspire the rest of the fairytale creatures. Puppet. Can be operated by actress appearing as Sugar Plum Fairy.
The boy who never grew up, and he continues to act the part in this story.
Inherent strength and authority with a big, booming voice and isn’t scared to put all the Fairy Tale Creatures in their place.
The Dragon’s soulful background singers who all tried at some point to save Fiona from her tower but were held hostage by the Dragon.
Farquaad’s comparably short and grumpy father. This is a perfect cameo role for a young performer.
