Auditions for child singers for the play "Seussical JR." Please review the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Seussical is a tale that lovingly brings to life all of favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination – JoJo. The colorful characters transport from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including JoJo, a Who child who is thinking too many "things." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Additional info: COMMITMENT: 9 performances June 21-30, 2024. This is an Acorn production for Young Actors and young audiences. Public shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ( all matinees). Two-morning performances for summer day-school groups on Fridays, June 21st and 28th at 9:30 am. Rehearsals will be evenings M-F. A calendar will be available at auditions. The audition will consist of a prepared 24-32 bars of a song from a musical (one verse and a chorus), and a short dance audition that will be taught on the day of the audition. You may also sing with a track; remember karaoke style with no lead vocal track. If you are interested please apply.
