I AM NO BEAST, situated in Scarborough, is student film, a coming-of-age story that delves into the harsh realities of gun violence among the youth living in dysfunctional households. The short 'I AM NO BEAST' explores the journeys of individuals confronting the harsh realities of rebuilding their lives after enduring challenging pasts. More than just a film, it serves as a call to action to initiate conversations about awareness and education. I Am No Beast is, for numerous Abbas's, encapsulated in a relentless cycle of violence, socio-economic disparities, lack of resources and systemic challenges, contributing to the perpetuation of violence. And often left to find their own path to fit into society once more.

12-14 years- A jovial young boy, who adores his parents and uses ice-cream as an excuse to go on adventures. After a terrifying incident involving a gunshot near their apartment, little Abbas is shaken by the violence in the world. Alongside his best-friend, Marcus, he dreams of living a life where he doesn’t have to be scared.
(13); Quick witted, and dextrous, young Marcus dreams of going to the stars and touching the moon. He is fiercely protective of his baby sister and his best friend, and won’t hesitate to fight anyone who troubles either of them. He can often be found with Abbas just staring at clouds and dreaming of a better life.
11-12 yrs. Marcus’ younger sister, and Abbas’ friend. She never leaves Marcus and Abbas’ side and can usually be seen following them around. She is bubbly, intuitive, and caring. Josie is the personification of innocence in a child is pure and full of life.
