About the project: A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical, follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal! Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world. Additional info: Callbacks Sunday, April 14 at 6 pm General Expectations: Headshots & performance resumes are helpful but not necessary. The directors can take your photo on-site, and you can complete a brief stage experience with your audition card. Please prepare a comprehensive list of conflicts for May through July. Acting Expectations: All actors will read selected sides from the script for lead and supporting characters. All actors will be considered for all appropriate roles. Dance Expectations: All actors will be taught a sequence of moves during auditions. Wear clothes and shoes in which you are comfortable moving! Vocal Expectations: Please be prepared to sing a song from a musical that best shows your range and personality. *Consider this portion of the audition an opportunity to showcase your acting as well.* The directors suggest choosing a song in a similar style to the show and not from Legally Blonde. The directors encourage auditioners to sing an entire song but 32 bars or more is fine (at least one verse and one chorus). No a capella singing. Please avoid Americana, Hymnal, Children’s, and traditional radio music. The directors highly encourage choosing from the Musical Theatre genre. You will have two primary options: Provide your own backing tracks on a phone or MP3 Player. A bluetooth speaker will be available. Provide your own sheet music for the accompanist. Make sure your sheet music is in the proper key and your cuts are clearly marked for the accompanist. (Gb2-G5 Soprano Belt) - Elle is more than the bubbly young woman who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School. The audiences witness her realize she has more than just a pretty face and a peppy personality to offer the world! Lovable, determined, vulnerable, energetic, and outgoing!
(B2-A4 Tenor) - Emmett is a smart, quirky, sensitive, and personable law student in his last year. He takes Elle under his wing and believes in her when it no one else does. Must be comfortable with dogs. Dry but charming.
(A3-A5 Soprano Belt) - Paulette is the owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She becomes friends with Elle and longs to marry a man from Ireland. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! Must be comfortable with dogs. A Bostonian accent is a plus. Comedic timing will be imperative to Paulette’s success.
(G#3-F5 Belt) - Margot is the seemingly dim-witted, boy-crazy sorority sister.
(G#3-F5 Belt) - Serena is the energetic cheerleader sorority sister with heart.
(G#3-F5 Belt) - Pilar is the sassy and sensible sorority sister.
(Eb3-Ab4 Tenor) - Warner is classically attractive, charismatic, and charming but very self-absorbed. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a senator, including breaking Elle’s heart.
(A3-G5 Mezzo) - Brooke is an exercise video star and former Delta Nu sorority girl who has been accused of murder. Actor will perform high-level aerobics with enough stamina to continue singing while jumping rope.
(G3-G5 Soprano Belt) - Enid is a strong, opinionated law student at Harvard. She’s a die-hard feminist with great comedic timing.
(A2-F#4 Baritone) - Callahan is a pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. He should be somewhat charismatic with an underlying distrustful vibe.
(A3-F5 Soprano, Major Belt Req.) - Vivienne is an overachieving, stuck-up, wealthy, smart and savvy law student who is intellectually driven. She is unthreatened by Elle's presence at Harvard and shows growth in empathy for her fellow female.
