Casting Call for Boys and Girls for "Anne Of Green Gables"
Seeking a child ages 6-8 years old and teens ages 12-18 years old for the "Anne Of Green Gables" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: When a high-spirited, red-headed orphan girl is sent to live with the Cuthberts at Green Gables, they claim a mistake has been made since they had asked for a boy. But before Marilla and her quiet brother Matthew can send her back to the orphanage, Anne’s winsome ways capture their hearts, and her winning personality and funny antics captivate all who come to know her. Additional info: What / How to prepare: Headshots/resumes are encouraged but not required. Auditions will consist of a prepared one-minute monologue including slating (introducing who you are, what play the monologue is from, and who wrote the play) along with reading from the script. Actors 6-8 looking to audition for Minnie May are asked to perform a 30-second - 1-minute monologue along with separately working on facial expressions and body language for the stage. Directors will have those performers showcase that when asked. An orphan girl, flighty, dramatic, and headstrong, out of place in prim and proper Avonlea. She is passionate, stubborn, warm, loyal, intelligent, an articulate chatterbox, hugely loving, in love with beauty, and a dreamer of great imagination. When she makes mistakes, they’re doozies, but she is full of integrity, and always wants to be a good person.
Bachelor farmer who oversees Green Gables with his spinster sister Marilla. He is a hardworking, quiet, caring man, and is painfully shy around women. Anne considers Matthew a kindred spirit and always turns to him when she wants a sympathetic ear.
Stern spinster who oversees Green Gables with her brother. She is a deeply feeling woman who does not usually express emotion. Underneath she has a wry sense of humor and a loving heart. Although she raises Anne strictly, she adores her adopted daughter, and by the end of the play, she has become softer and more expressive.
Avonlea’s resident gossip and busybody. She is most happy when prying into other people’s affairs. She has an affectionate, quarrelsome friendship with Marilla. Mrs. Rachel is outspoken about everything from politics to fashion, and, although childless, she never fails to advise Marilla on how to raise Anne.
The Avonlea schoolmaster. He is a contrast- inattentive/authoritarian or “gushy” nice. He does not take to Anne’s classroom outbursts.
One of Anne's oldest classmates. Mr. Phillips's favorite student. Studying to go to Queen's College on the mainland.
Anne’s classmate and closest friend, friendly, earnest, sincere, a bit of a follower, but loyal to Anne.
Diana’s slightly stuck-up, well-meaning mother. A moralistic woman who has reservations about her daughter’s friendship with Anne.
Dianna's younger sister. She is full of mischief and energy. Is saved from death's doorstep by Anne.
Anne’s classmate, catty and flirtatious, Josie fervently pursues Gilbert and is put off when his attention turns to Anne. Moves on to Charlie.
Anne’s classmate, pretty, but not terribly bright, Ruby is often the victim of Charlie’s rowdy pranks.
One of Anne’s classmates, Sweet, and kind to all. Moody, unlike Charlie and Gilbert, is quiet and focused in class. Looks to be a Minister one day.
Anne’s classmate, a rowdy practical joker, looks to be in Parliament when he grows up.
Anne’s classmate, She befriended Anne through Diana Barry and Ruby Gillis. She's also Prissy Andrews's little sister.
He is Anne’s classmate and occasional rival, the heartthrob of the Avonlea schoolhouse, he is athletic, popular, and very intelligent, usually standing toe to toe with Anne in academic and professional achievement.
An Avonlea school mistress, creative, warm, and patient, Miss Stacey is a stark contrast to the strict authoritarian, Mr. Phillips.
The great aunt of Diana Barry. Strict at first but as time goes on we see the warm heart she holds for others and their friends.
Wife to the new Rev. Allan. Takes over Sunday school teachings. Very excited to teach the future of Canada about Jesus.
Nasty neighbor. She has many children and due to the lack of help is sleep-deprived and bitter to the world.
Town preacher. Doesn't have a strong memory. Due to be retired because of his memory.
French Farm hand to Matthew. Hired for his strength and youth. He is a sweet boy who would do anything for the Cuthbert's.
One of Anne's classmates. She is good friends with everyone in school. Hates when the boys pick on her and her friends.
Maid to the Barry household. Tends to Diana and Minnie May the most. Gentle soul that worries often.
New Reverend in town. Took over after Rev. Bentley retired. Is nervous but excited about this new opportunity.
Jovial and easy‐going.
Sunday school teacher. Leaves when Reverend Bentley departs. Wants to show the Church respect. Doesn't tolerate students not knowing the basics of the bible.
Friends with the other boys at school. Plays along with teasing the girls.
School house classmate who wishes to be with Gilbert like the rest of the girls.
Sister of Charlie. She is sweet and friends to all but loves a good game of "I dare you!"
An out-of-town businessman with ties to the town and stops by to discuss matters of buying Green Gables. Is kind and respectful.
Official speaker. Strong in words and honored to be helping students as they step out into the real world.
