Singing Opportunities for Kids in "Footloose: Youth Edition"
"Footloose: Youth Edition" invites teens in grades 7-9 to audition. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Ren McCormack, a teenager with rhythm in his soul, lands in Bomont, a town where dancing is strictly forbidden. But Ren can't help but move! And when he finds an unlikely ally in the rebellious daughter of the town's strict reverend, together they spark a revolution. Can they overcome tradition and bring back the joy of dance? A G-rated version, this is Footloose fun for the whole family. You'll be ready to sing and dance along to iconic hits such as "Holding Out for a Hero" and "Footloose." You're not only in for a good time, you're helping to nurture the next generation of performers. Don't miss this show! Additional info: Auditions will consist of singing a song from the show and learning a short dance. (Lead - many solos): Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s daughter; the role requires a strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
(Supporting - solos): Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.
(Supporting - many solos, trio harmony): Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, and knows everything about everything; the role requires a strong belt, strong comedic timing, and dance.
(Supporting - solos): A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile; comedic timing and dance are a must.
(Supporting): Ren’s mother; had a tough go, just trying to make it…would do anything for her son.
(Supporting): The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend
