Child Singing Audition for "Matilda The Musical"
Looking to cast boys and girls ages 6+ for "Matilda The Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Matilda The Musical is presented by The Bellevue Society for the Arts and based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox). It is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny. Additional info: Callbacks March 6 if needed. Production May 10, 11, 12, & 17, 18, 19, 2024. In-person auditions are mandatory. In certain circumstances, virtual auditions may be possible. TEENS (age 13+): 32 bars of a song and one 90 sec monologue (monologues will be timed and stopped at 90 sec). You may sing a capella or bring a pre-recorded track (on your own device) KIDS (under 13): any song, monologue (preferred, but not required), and/or cold reads. Reciting a memorized poem can substitute for monologue. Height: Ideally no taller than 4’3” Essentials: *This performer should be a strong actor, singer, and dancer. Instinctive acting is a must. Good vocal health and clarity. Turns cartwheels. Matilda’s older brother. He is not very bright and is heavily favored by their parents. This role will also double in the Ensemble. Height: Flexible Essentials: *This role has few spoken words; deadpan comedic timing is a plus. Consider a young adult for this role Vocal Range: C4-E5
Matilda’s classmate and friend Height: Flexible, but taller than Matilda Essentials: *This performer should be a good dancer, with strong singing and acting ability. Loud and kooky - likes to have fun - big personality. Vocal Range: C4-F5
Matilda’s classmate and lover of chocolate cake. Height: Flexible Essentials: *This performer should be a strong actor, singer, and dancer, with excellent comic timing. Must have an unbroken voice. (Vocal ability for “Revolting Children”). Preferably heavier set than the other children *As part of the action on stage this role is required to eat chocolate cake, cream & icing. Must not be allergic to latex (material of the prop cake) or cake/icing ingredients Vocal Range: C4-E5
