Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth. Bring this application with you to the audition along with a headshot (or print of your picture). Song: Prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song of your choice. Bring background track on a Bluetooth device (e.g. phone) or sheet music for the accompanist. Monologue: Select one of the provided monologues (see Audition Sides for Wonka below) for the character of your choice. For example: If you are interested in Violet, select the lines for Violet, but know you are being considered for all roles based on this read. Directors are more interested in see if you can create a character. Dance: Wear (or bring) shoes that you can move in. you will be taught 8 bars of dance of which you will perform in groups. Vocal range: Bb4 – F#5. Charlie is a young boy or girl who is kind and understanding. He/She wants little to be happy. He /She loves his family especially his grandfather, Grandpa Joe.
Vocal range: B3 – G4. Sings “I Eat More!” Sees everything and smells everything that is good to eat. Can think of nothing else but food.
Vocal range: G3 – E5. Sassy, forceful, rude. Takes advantage of others.
Vocal range: C4 – G5. Spoiled rotten. Has her father wrapped around her finger. Used to getting whatever she wants.
Vocal range: Low B – High G. Technologically savvy, sarcastic, distractible nerd who only cares about his electronics devices.
Vocal range: Low A – High A. They work for Mr. Wonka who has taken them in. Love the chocolate factory. They are a bit impish.
Vocal range: A to A. He is Charlie’s best friend. Singing and dancing part.
Vocal range: B to B. She is also one of Charlie’s close friends.
