About the project: Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley® It’s 1955, and in a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.” Rate: All roles are non-paid. Additional info: REHEARSALS: June 4-July 20; Sunday through Wednesday evenings. TECH WEEK: July 15-20. PERFORMANCES: Select dates from July 21-30. Seeking to cast performers age 13+ for roles non-traditionally with a combination of strong character actors, dancers, and strong singing voices (all vocal ranges). Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song (in the style of the show) Pop, Rock, or Musical Theatre. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided. Dancers will be asked to stay and learn a dance combo within an hour of their audition appointment. Callbacks are scheduled for the evening of 5/4. Please, see the attcahed file below. (Belt Alto Mid. C—D) Sylvia’s 16 year-old daughter.
(Tenor High 1st Tenor Mid A—Ab) a young, awkward, aspiring dentist.
(Tenor 1st Tenor F—high Bb (must be strong)) Matilda’s 16 year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school.
Strong, heavily used singing and dancing townspeople, etc. The ensemble is an integral part of this show and appears on stage in the majority of the scenes. The directors are planning for a large ensemble of both singers and dancers. There are several featured roles that will be cast out of the ensemble. The ensemble is also featured in solo, duet, trio, and step-out roles (statues, deletes, etc)
