Looking for Teenagers for "Footloose" Musical

Ren is going through a lot. His father left which triggered him and his mother to move from Chicago to Bomont and Ren immediately doesn’t fit in. He loves to dance and well, dancing isn’t allowed in Bomont. Ren is the kind of protagonist that trouble always seems to find, but he is also very witty and stubborn. The actor should be a strong actor, dancer, and singer and should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. There is some heavy material that goes along with this role. Tenor.

Ariel is a rebellious soul. She is out to make her own way in life and get out of her father’s shadow. She is sneaky and stubborn, but also a driven and caring person. She takes an interest in Ren from his arrival in Bomont and helps him as she can. Like Ren, Ariel should be a strong actress, dancer, and singer. She should also appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. There is some heavy material that goes along with this role. Mezzo-Soprano.

Chuck is Ariel’s boyfriend and a well-known troublemaker in town. He’s dropped out of school and is still acting the bully, especially to Ren and Ariel’s friends. He is followed around by Travis and Lyle. He is a very flawed individual. There is some strong material that goes along with this role. Tenor.

Willard is a bit of a bumbling idiot, but in a very endearing way. He becomes good friends with Ren and helps guide him into being a better person. He’s awkward, especially around Rusty. He has a bit of a temper and is quick to draw his fists over any injustice done to those he cares for. The actor portraying Willard should be a strong character actor with great comedic timing. Being a strong dancer is also a plus (Willard learns how to dance in Act 2). Tenor.

Rusty is Ariel’s quirky best friend. She is a babbler and gets especially awkward around Willard. But she is fiercely loyal and will do anything for her friends. The actress playing Rusty should be a strong character actress with great comedic timing. Rusty should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Soprano.

Urleen is Rusty and Ariel’s boy-crazy friend. She is witty and adds humor to any situation. She and Wendy Jo are their own little dynamic duo. Comedic timing is a plus for the actress portraying Urleen. Urleen should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Soprano.

Wendy Jo is the soft-spoken one of the friend group. She is good friends with Ariel and Rusty, but Urleen is undeniably her best friend. She shares in her boy's crazy antics though is a bit apprehensive about things. Like Urleen, comedic timing is a huge plus for Wendy Jo. Wendy Jo should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Mezzo-Soprano.

Travis is one of Chuck’s cronies. He also takes a share in bullying Ren. Travis should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Tenor.

Lyle is one of Chuck’s cronies. He also takes a share in bullying Ren. Lyle should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Tenor.

Bickle is a friend of Ren and Willard’s. He should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Tenor.

Jeter is a friend of Ren and Willard’s. He should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Tenor.

Garvin is a friend of Ren and Willard’s. He should appear to be a High School Junior/Senior. Baritone.

The leader of the bar’s band in the first scene of Act 2. He does have a song even though it’s a single appearance. He is cocky and a real scene-stealer. Tenor.

These roles are featured in the first scene of Act 2. Being able to pretend to play instruments is a huge plus for this cameo.

A curious bargoer asks Rusty about Willard in the first scene of Act 2. This is a speaking-only role that will be a part of the ensemble in other scenes.

The teens of Bomont that show up in multiple scenes. They are also the teens in Chicago wishing Ren safe travels as he heads to Bomont.

Members of this ensemble can be any age and are featured in a few scenes. They may also be members of the church choir.
