Production of "Oliver" Looking for Young Talent
In search of young talent ages 10-18 for the production of "Oliver". Read on for more information. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: In Lionel Bart's award-winning musical based on the Charles Dickens novel "Oliver Twist", young orphan Oliver falls in with a group of street-urchin pickpockets led by the Artful Dodger and masterminded by the criminal Fagin. When Oliver's intended mark, Mr. Brownlow, takes pity on the lad and offers him a home, Fagin's henchman Bill Sikes plots to kidnap the boy to keep him from talking. The show features a host of well-loved songs including: "Food, Glorious Food", "Consider Yourself", "As Long as He Needs Me", "I'd Do Anything", "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two", "Reviewing the Situation" and "Where Is Love?". In a 1968 review, Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote "Oliver! is a treasure. It is very nearly universal entertainment, one of those rare shows, like The Wizard of Oz, that appeals in many ways to all sorts of people." Additional info: Show dates: June 2 - 18.
