About the project: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is one of the best-known and most popular works of English-language fiction - its narrative, structure, characters, and imagery have been enormously influential in popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. Originally written in 1865 by Lewis Carroll, the play tells the story of a high school-aged Alice, who travels to a new world called Wonderland; which is populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. Follow that rabbit to a delightful, entertaining world of childhood fantasies. Alice journeys into a world of talking animals, comic royalty, and races where the contestants run in circles! There is also the Mad Hatter's frantic tea party, the watch-carrying White Rabbit, and talking flowers. Along the way, Alice must deal with a sneezing duchess and a baby that turns into a pig! The finale has Alice watching a trial, but she suddenly finds herself the accused! The play gives a modern view to an old classic, where nonsense makes quite good sense. After Alice tumbles down a mysterious rabbit hole, she finds herself in a strange land where everyone is raving mad. With the help of a Cheshire Cat, an astute Caterpillar, and a righteous Humpty Dumpty, Alice must find her way home and discover who she really is.
