"Sound of Music" Play In Search of Talent

SHOW DATES: MAY 31 – JUNE 17. All ethnicities will be considered for all roles. Rehearsals will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings & Sunday afternoons and evenings. FIRST READ THROUGH – Wed. March 1st, 2023. Auditions will be with sides which will be available as you sign up for an audition time after filling out the form. Please prepare a 32-bar or 90-second portion of a song that best suits your voice. Backing tracks on your personal devices are permitted. There is an accompanist. If you are interested, please apply.

The eldest child (16) who remembers her mother the most clearly, Liesl has never taken to any of the women who were supposed to replace her mother since. If her father hadn’t emotionally abandoned them at the same time as her mother’s death, Liesl might not have had to take over as parent to the rest of her siblings and might have been able to stay a child longer.
She sees Liesl as a rival and wants the younger children’s attention to be on her. With Maria’s arrival, Louisa realizes there there could be enough love for everyone to share and doesn’t want to lose her.
With the confidence of a 10 year old, Kurt boldly goes where Friedrich is to timid to tread. He knows what is right and doesn’t hesitate to act.
Aged 9, going on 19, Brigitta sees right through people to the person they hide from others. Pretence is beneath her, as she’d much rather get to the point and get on with things.
Marta is used to getting a brief window of time to get all her words out, so she is efficient and swift to do so when given the opportunity.
“The Youngest”, Gretl is very trusting and adores Friedrich. She doesn’t have memories of her mother’s love.
The strong, silent type, Friedrich is silent because he doesn’t know what his role in the family is. His mother’s death led to him missing out on childhood, and he wonders if Maria’s arrival with give him a second chance to be playful and silly before it’s too late.
