Description:

Re-enactment of the last week of Jesus' earthly ministry, his trial, death and resurrection. Singing and dancing skills will also be helpful. The production is held outdoors on the Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend - April 3 and 4, 2026. The performance combines children, teens, adults and live animals in a stage play with musical accompaniment. Rehearsals start March 2 and continue until the performances on April 3rd and 4th. For most parts this will only be one day a week until the last two weeks.

Roman SoldiersMale15-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Roman legionaries could march 20 miles with 80 pound packs. swim in their armor, and conquer almost anyone. Convince us you can do this - we need Roman soldiers to arrest Jesus, stand guard, control the crowd. Rehearsals will begin the first week of March. Soldiers will rehearse on Thursday (7-9 PM) and Saturdays 1-4 PM for three weeks. Then the last two weeks are full rehearsals or shows 5 nights a week.

Temple GuardsMale15-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Temples guards carry swords, stand guard, arrest Jesus, and other activities. Must be in good physical condition, have a beard, be able to pass as a young adults. Soldiers have few or no lines and may be assigned other roles. Rehearsals will begin the first week of March. Guards will rehearse on Mondays (7-9 PM) and Saturdays 1-4 PM for three weeks. The last two weeks are full rehearsals or shows 5 nights a week.

DisciplesMale15-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Jesus’ disciples follow him around. Should be able to pass as a young adults. Some have many lines, some no lines, but significant stage time. Rehearsals will begin the first week of March. Disciples may rehearse on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (7-9 PM) and Saturdays 1-4 PM for three weeks. The last two weeks are full rehearsals or shows 5 nights a week.

Priest AmariahMale15-17 y.o.All ethnicities

One of Jesus’ opponents. He debates with Jesus and must be willing to riotously mock Jesus on the cross. He is a student of one of the older priests. He is in many scenes and rehearses Monday, and Thursday 7-9 PM and Saturday 1-4 PM.

Priest BenaiahMale12-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Benaiah is one of Jesus’ opponents and debates him. (texts are Biblical) He is a student of an older teacher. He is generally arrogant and aggressive. Rehearses Monday 7-9 PM and Saturday 1-4 PM for the first three weeks, starting March 2. The last two weeks are full rehearsals or performances 5 days a week. Should look 13-14.

People of JerusalemBoth genders14-17 y.o.All ethnicities

Two Greek women who meet and follow Jesus, various other women and men who interact with Jesus: temple merchants, the donkey’s owners, false witnesses against Jesus.

Children of JerusalemBoth genders6-13 y.o.All ethnicities

There are 8 speaking roles for children, non-speaking roles can be added. Most are quite small, comprising only a few lines. They will act as animal handlers in the scene where Jesus drives the money lenders out of the temple and then return and sing praises to Jesus and dance. Rehearsals start March 2 and continue until the performances on April 3rd and 4th. Children will rehearse Mondays from 7-9 PM on March 2,9 and 16 and the last two weeks about 5 days a week.
