Digital Acting For Kids And Teens At The New York Film Academy

Founded by the late former film, television, and theater producer Jerry Sherlock in 1992, New York Film Academy (NYFA) is a private acting school with locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, as well as Australia and Italy. Amongst their graduates is the famous actress Aubrey Plaza, critically acclaimed actor Paul Dano, the star and co-creator of HBO television series Insecure, Issa Rae, beloved comedian Damon Wayans, and even the retired basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal.

NYFA does not work with adults only, as it offers acting workshops and online classes for children aged 10-13 and 14-17. These classes are taking place on Saturdays, during the academic year, for four straight weeks, thus not affecting other obligations kids may have.

By attending their specially for kids tailored classes, aspiring child performers who are aged from 10 to 13 can learn essential skills by attending online classes which are focusing on various individual important aspects for acting skill set, e.g., how to deliver monologues professionally and confidently; learning the fundamentals of auditioning, including various techniques and practices; and discovering new platforms and media for aspiring actors to stay a few steps ahead of the competition.

The academy also offers similar classes specifically designed for teens aged from 14 to 17 years, also specifically focusing on monologue delivery, performing in auditions, and working with new forms of media. Teens gain valuable skills that improve their chances of succeeding in work on projects for film and television series. Both age groups can enroll in either one of these classes as they and their parents see fit - it can be even all three at the same time.
