Biggest Upcoming Projects Casting Kids in 2026

Seussiverse Will Continue With Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

The final book by the timeless children’s author Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go, is set to receive an animated feature adaptation on March 17, 2028. It is set to become the second film in the upcoming “Seussiverse” by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, which will be launched by the November 6, 2026, release of The Cat in the Hat animated adaptation, with both movies sharing continuity.

The story of the 1990 picture book, released about a year and a half before the author passed away, revolves around the unnamed protagonist’s decision to leave his hometown and travel through several geometrical and polychromatic landscapes and places. It is to be seen how the animated feature adaptation handles the fact that the protagonist in the book was meant to be the reader themselves, as the story is told in second person.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is set to be co-directed by Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton, while the screenplay is by Rob Lieber. The brand new songs featured in the film will be composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, best known for their work on beloved musicals La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

The film will star Ariana Grande and Josh Gad, who are currently the only officially announced actors, though their roles have not been revealed. While further casting calls are not open yet, it is expected to take place in 2026, similarly to The Cat in the Hat, which made its casting decisions around two years before the release of the animated film. For kid actors with vocal acting and singing skills, it might be the opportunity of the year!

Over A Decade Of Wait Will End With A Minecraft Movie Sequel

In April 2025 it a sequel to the box-office hit adaptation of the massively popular video game Minecraft was announced and is set to hit the silver screens on July 23, 2027. The 2015 A Minecraft Movie director Jared Hess will be returning to helm its sequel, with Chris Galletta again joining him to co-write the screenplay.

Jason Momoa is confirmed to produce the sequel, yet there is no official information on whether he will reprise his role from the first movie as Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison, nor will other A Minecraft Movie stars return for the sequel. Similarly, the plot of the film has been kept under wraps, with the Warner Bros. Pictures & Legendary upcoming movie coming with the tag line of “building terrains”.

While no casting calls have been announced as of yet, the sequel to A Minecraft Movie is likely to give kid actors the opportunity to work together with established Hollywood stars in a live-action format once again.

Join Anna And Elsa In The Upcoming Third And Fourth Films Of Frozen

Since 2013, Frozen has become one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, so it comes as little to no surprise that Disney announced the release date for the third animated feature film for November 24, 2027, thus continuing the tradition of both previous films being released for the Thanksgiving period.

The third film in the Frozen series will be followed shortly by the fourth film, with one expansive story spanning both upcoming sequels. The specific details are yet to be revealed, but the third film is set to revolve around Anna and Elsa traveling together on a new magical journey and facing unknown challenges through it. Both of the films will be written by the Frozen and Frozen 2 co-director and co-writer, Jennifer Lee.

While no official announcements have been made, it is highly likely that at least some of the original cast members from the first two movies will return, including Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell. As casting calls have yet to be announced in the near future, there will surely be brand-new roles available for kid actors. Due to the two-part concept, joining the cast can potentially even turn out two birds with one stone type of situation for aspiring kid actors.
