About the project: Between the Lines tells the story of Delilah, a thoughtful and book-loving high school student who escapes the pressures of real life by reading her favorite fairy tale, Between the Lines. When the book’s dashing hero, Prince Oliver, begins speaking directly to her, Delilah discovers that the characters inside the story are aware they are trapped in the same narrative, performing the same story over and over for each new reader. Together, Delilah and Oliver search for a way to change the ending, challenging the rules of both the fairy-tale world and the real one. Additional info: What to Prepare: Vocal Audition: Please prepare a song in the style of Between the Lines. An accompanist will not be provided. Please come with a backing/ karaoke track for you to sing with for the audition. A Bluetooth speaker will be available for use. You may choose to sing a capella (without accompaniment), but singing with a backing track is preferred. Dance Audition: Be prepared to learn a short dance combination. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Acting Audition: You will also read from the script during the audition. Rehearsals will be held in Centreville, MD, beginning January 20 and continuing until March 29th. Then rehearsals will move into Church Hill Theatre for our tech weeks (March 30 – April 9th, no rehearsals on April 3-5th). This production will not be rehearsing over Easter weekend. Strong and confident, Jules is the living embodiment of “live the story you want if it’s not the story you’re in.” As Ondine: the lead Mermaid; when the book is being read the mermaids are obsessed with men, however once the book is closed they become staunch feminists. Ryan is the jock boyfriend of Allie McAndrews, a dude’s dude. Frump is Prince Oliver’s best friend who is half-dog due to a curse placed on him by the evil Rapskullio earlier in the fairy tale book. A teen internet troll who bullies Delilah through social media posts and is part of Allie McAndrews’ tribe. As Troll: when the fairy tale is being read the Troll is a grunting, monosyllabic monster; when the book is closed, he is an Olivier-esque actor’s actor. Also briefly appears as Delilah's Dad and Delivery Person. You have the option to split up these roles. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: C3
