"Dorothy in Wonderland" Play Needs Boys and Girls
Kids in grades 1-6 are welcome to audition for the "Dorothy in Wonderland" Play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The whimsical worlds of Oz and Wonderland collide in this clever romp adapted from the works of L. Frank Baum and Lewis Carroll. Dorothy Gale has made her way to the end of the Yellow Brick Road, but before she’s able to return home in the Wizard’s balloon, another strange wind sweeps her away to Wonderland. Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion come face-to-face with Alice, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter, and more. Dorothy quickly teams up with Alice, and her friends put their new assets of brains, heart, and courage to the test against the Queen of Hearts. CALLBACKS Tuesday, December 9 (6:00-8:30 PM) & Wednesday, December 10 (4:00-6:30 PM) REHEARSALS JUNIOR CAST: Wednesdays (4:00-6:30 PM) & Sundays (1:00-5:00 PM) Not all performers will be called to all rehearsals, and those who are called may not be needed for the entire time. TECH WEEK JUNIOR CAST: Monday, February 2 through Thursday, February 5 (4:00 - 8:00 PM) PERFORMANCES JUNIOR CAST: Friday, February 6 & Saturday, February 7 (7:00 PM) / Sunday, February 8 (2:00 PM) Performances will take place at Exeter Town Hall. DOROTHY is a sweet-natured farmgirl, hoping to find her way back to Kansas after traversing the Land of Oz.
TOTO is Dorothy’s dog, who is fiercely loyal to her but also loves a fun chase.
SCARECROW is, after receiving a brain from the Wizard, Dorothy’s very intelligent friend who happens to be made out of straw.
LION is, after receiving courage from the Wizard, Dorothy’s very brave friend who is already ready for a fight.
TIN MAN is, after receiving a heart from the Wizard, Dorothy’s very soft-hearted friend who recites poetry.
GLINDA is the lovely witch of the north.
ALICE is a curious girl, hoping to find her way back to England.
WHITE RABBIT is a very skittish and perpetually tardy servant to the Queen.
CATERPILLAR is thoughtful, inquisitive, and blunt to the point of rudeness.
HUMPTY-DUMPTY is an oversensitive egg who is, unfortunately, very clumsy.
KING OF HEARTS is the supposed ruler of Wonderland, alongside the Queen of Hearts, but she definitely runs the show.
QUEEN OF HEARTS is an angry tyrant who rules Wonderland by threatening to behead anyone who crosses her.
KNAVE OF HEARTS is a sneaky thief with a love of yummy tarts.
FIVE & SEVEN are playing cards who serve the Queen.
PAWN, ROOK & KNIGHT are chess pieces who serve as the Queen’s soldiers.
FROG FOOTMAN & FISH FOOTMAN are hard-to-deal-with messengers.
MAD HATTER is a bonkers hat-maker who speaks in rhymes and riddles.
MARCH HARE is the Mad Hatter’s equally-bonkers best friend.
DORMOUSE is a sleepy little mouse who follows along on the Hatter and Hare’s adventures.
CHESHIRE CAT is a mysterious, vanishing cat with an unsettling grin.
