The first musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. Additional info: All actors auditioning must be available for all six performances. Fridays, March 20 and 27 at 7:30 PM Saturdays, March 21 and 28 at 7:30 PM Sundays, March 22 and 29 at 2:00 PM Rehearsals will start Monday, January 19. We will rehearse Sundays through Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Due to the inevitable conflicts during the week we may have some Saturday rehearsals. You will not be called for more than 5 rehearsals in a week. Actors will only be called to rehearsals as needed. Please list all conflicts on your audition form. Any conflicts that come up later or are not listed on the form will have to be negotiated with the director. Callbacks if necessary: Sunday, November 16, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song of your choice that reflects the style of this musical. We are eager to hear you show off your voice and your ability to tell a story. You are welcome to sing from the musical. Bring sheet music, and an accompanist will be provided. You will be taught a very short dance sequence with a few other auditioners. No preparation necessary for that. Please wear clothing that you feel comfortable to move in.
