Burlesque gained popularity in 19th-century Victorian England as theatrical performances that parodied serious works like Shakespeare plays and operas with comedic and risqué humor. This art form evolved over time, influenced by notable choreographers like Bob Fosse who brought a stylized, provocative edge to dance that echoed burlesque’s playful, suggestive origins. Today, burlesque is a vibrant blend of classic tradition and contemporary flair, embracing humor, dance, storytelling, and personal expression.
