"Newsies Jr." Show Needs Boys & Girls
"Newsies Jr." Show is looking for kids ages 10-18 years old. Please see the details below. About project: Disney's Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. Additional info: Please prepare 16 measures of music to be sung acapella or with an accompanying track (bring it on a device). If the student wishes to demonstrate specific dance skills, please also prepare 1 minute of the dance and bring your accompaniment track on a device. Be prepared to do mixed cold readings, learn music on the fly, and return for callbacks as necessary. Dancers and singers are needed for this strong Ensemble show! Rehearsals: Jan 2 – Feb 23. Performances: Feb 24 – Mar 12 plus 2 daytime student matinees. If interested, please apply.
