A Madrigal is a genre of non-religious, unaccompanied vocal music that became extremely popular in Europe in the 16th century, and continued to be written in most of the first half of the 17th century, especially in Italy and England. Madrigal singing is a very intimate kind of performing, requiring subtle communication among the singers to establish tempo, dynamics, starting and stopping, and creating an emotional sense in the music. Additional info: Please prepare approximately 20 bars of music to sing a cappella. You will also be sight-reading with others. Rehearsals are projected to be approximately twice or three times a month with the first performance in the Spring or Summer! If you are interested, please apply.
